Soles for a Nordic way of life
From autumn trails to icy pavements in late winter, choosing the right sole is an important part of finding the right shoes. Our collection features a variety of soles, so we’ve put together this guide to help you find the one that best suits your needs.
Pomar TR
TR soles are versatile and suitable for year-round use. Our autumn and winter styles feature deep lugs to help provide traction on uneven ground, snow and slush, while the soft thermoplastic rubber offers flexibility in cold weather. We use these lugged TR soles in a range of city footwear, including the popular AAVA and KOSMOS Chelsea boots.
Pomar Trail GRIP
An advanced winter sole inspired by winter tyres, Trail GRIP offers a lower profile for those who prefer a thinner winter sole and a closer connection to the ground. It combines a dual-density TR rubber compound with an aggressive ridged tread pattern to provide traction on snow and slush. Much like studless winter tyres, the rubber remains soft and flexible in freezing temperatures.
Pomar Nordic GRIP
An advanced winter sole inspired by winter tyres, Nordic GRIP provides traction on snow and slush. This thick platform sole combines an advanced TR rubber compound with an aggressive tread pattern. The outer section uses a harder compound, while the softer TR rubber in the centre enhances grip on wintry surfaces, much like studless winter tyres. The thick sole also helps insulate feet from the cold ground, even in very low temperatures.
Pomar Winter GRIP
An advanced winter sole inspired by winter tyres, Winter GRIP provides traction in challenging Nordic winter conditions. It combines a dual-density TR rubber compound with a pronounced tread featuring ridged grooves and space between the snowflake-shaped lugs to help grip snow and slush. The rubber remains soft and flexible in freezing temperatures, much like studless winter tyres. Found on the SAANA and KOLI felt boots.
Pomar Spike
Pomar studded (spike) soles combine lightweight, flexible EVA with steel and rubber studs. The steel studs bite into ice to provide confident traction, while the EVA retains its flexibility even in very cold temperatures. The lightweight construction keeps the shoes comfortable to wear in challenging winter conditions.
Studded soles do not completely eliminate the risk of slipping. Not recommended for indoor use.
Pomar ANTI-SLIP Device
A practical sole for life on the move! Particularly useful on the slippery days, when moving between indoors and outdoors or driving. This TR rubber sole features a retractable metal traction device, with selected styles also featuring an additional grip area beneath the forefoot. Flip the device out in slippery conditions and fold it away before going indoors.
Keep the traction device folded away when conditions are not slippery to prevent unnecessary wear.
IMPORTANT: Do not wear indoors with the traction device flipped out.
Softer rubber. Better grip.
To provide reliable traction in cold and wintry conditions, our winter soles use softer TR rubber compounds. These compounds may wear faster on asphalt and concrete than harder compounds that are less specialised for winter grip.
