Essential Care Tips
Establishing a consistent shoe care routine is a sustainable way to extend the life of your Pomar shoes. Here are 6 fundamental rules to help you maintain your footwear.
- Avoid daily wear: Give your shoes a break; alternate between pairs every one or two days.
- Prioritise shoe care: Regular care is essential for extending their lifespan; seek professional help from a cobbler when needed.
- Invest in cedarwood shoe trees: They help maintain shape, minimise creasing, and help eliminate odours.
- Always use your hands to remove shoes: Avoid using your toe and heel to pull them off, as this can loosen the sole.
- Air dry only: Never use direct heat, such as a hair dryer or radiator, to speed up drying; allow your shoes to air dry. Removing insoles can help speed up drying.
- Diversify your footwear: Own shoes for different purposes and weather conditions. For instance, choose GORE-TEX for rainy days and slip-resistant spike soles for icy conditions. Matching the right shoes to the environment prolongs their lifespan and yours.

WOOLLEN FELT
- Start by inserting shoe trees.
- Gently wipe the shoes with a damp cloth.
- You can also clean your felt shoes with Collonil Organic bamboo cleaning solution. Thoroughly spray the cleaning solution on the shoes, allowing the surface material to become damp.
- Allow it to sit for a moment and then gently wipe it with a cloth.
- All felt shoes, including GORE-TEX® models, can benefit from Collonil Organic Protect & Care spray. This spray contains nourishing sunflower wax that effectively maintains the material's softness while providing excellent protection against moisture and dirt.
- Apply the spray to clean, dry shoes.
- We recommend using shoe trees.
- If your felt shoes develop lint, you can remove it using an electric lint trimmer.
Felt wears down with continuous friction. Therefore, we do not recommend using felt shoes for activities such as snowshoeing, skiing, riding, or with shoe grips which might rub against the felt

PATENT LEATHER
- Start by inserting shoe trees.
- Wipe the patent leather with a damp cloth.

MICROFIBER MATERIALS

All leather shoes treated with grease and wax, including GORE-TEX® shoes, can be treated with Collonil Organic Cover protective spray, which contains sunflower wax that cares for the leather. The spray effectively maintains the material’s softness and protects well against moisture and dirt. Apply the spray to clean, dry shoes.
Please note that care products may slightly change or darken the color of the material. Always test the product first on an inconspicuous area.
WAXY COMMANDER
Waxy Commander leather develops a patina over time. Its lively, natural surface can either be maintained or allowed to age beautifully.
Cleaning
Brush off dust and dirt. For more effective cleaning, use Collonil Clean cleaner. Spray evenly onto clean leather from a close distance. If needed, spread evenly with a sponge or cloth. Let dry.
Option 1: Dubbin - For a darker and waxier finish
Use dubbin if you want to preserve the leather’s deep color and waxy appearance. Make sure the leather is clean and dry.
- Apply a small amount of dubbin with a cloth or by hand. Rub it evenly into the leather, especially on areas exposed to heavier wear.
- Allow to absorb and lightly polish if needed. This helps care for the leather’s natural oils, improves water repellency, and keeps the leather looking well-maintained.
Option 2: Collonil Organic Cover care spray - For patina and easy care
- Use Collonil Organic Cover spray if you want a quicker and lighter treatment that supports patina formation and helps maintain GORE-TEX breathability.
- Brush off dust and dirt.
- Spray evenly onto clean leather from a close distance. If needed, spread evenly with a sponge or cloth. Let dry naturally.
The spray’s natural oils help clean, protect, and nourish the leather while preserving breathability. This option is faster and well suited for regular maintenance.
In brief
Both treatments may darken the leather. Use dubbin if you want to keep a darker and waxier character. Use Collonil Organic Cover spray for faster cleaning and protective care and a lighter, more patinated look.
