Ordering shoes from an online store is not always that easy. To find the right size for you, follow the instructions below. By measuring your size, you save not only your nerves but also time and the environment.
Draw the sole of your foot on paper
- Place the paper against the wall
- Stand on the paper with your full weight so that your heel touches the wall
- Draw both feet on the paper. You can also ask a friend to draw your feet for you.
Measure the longest part of your foot
1. MEASURE THE LENGTH OF YOUR FOOT
Measure the length of each foot in millimeters from the heel to the longest toe. The longest point may be at the big toe or another toe.
2. ADD 5MM TO THE MEASUREMENT
Next, add about 5 mm to your measurement. Add 7-10 mm if you want to wear wool socks. For sandals, add 2-4 mm.
3. COMPARE THE MEASUREMENT TO THE SHOES' SIZES
Compare the total measurement (foot length + about 5 mm) to the "Inner shoe length" sizes listed in the product details. Note: this varies depending on the shoe.
For example, the length of the right foot is 238 mm and the left foot 240 mm. Add 5 mm according to the larger foot, totaling 245 mm. Choose size 37 from the Aava ankle boots (the inner length of size 37 in Aava is 243 mm).
Note: Pomar shoes are slightly larger compared to European shoes. There is more space for the heel and toes. If the product indicates a wide last, the shoe has more room. More about last width here.
Most Pomar shoes have a removable insole that can be replaced with a thinner or thicker one if needed. This way, you can add or remove space.
Also measure the length and circumference of the shaft
- You will usually also find the shaft height and circumference in the size chart.
- Stand on the floor without shoes and first measure the shaft length from the ground upwards (for example, in Saana felt boots size 37, the shaft length is 28 cm). You get the inner circumference of the shaft by measuring the calf circumference at this point. Check the calf circumference and compare it to the inner circumference measurement (in Saana shoes size 37, the shaft inner circumference is 34 cm). The measurement rarely matches your exact calf circumference, which is why many of our shoes have stretch panels and laces that allow you to tighten or loosen the shaft.
- Please note that the circumference varies depending on the shoe height, so it is important to measure your foot separately for each shoe. The measurement result is also affected by the thickness of socks and clothing. If the shoes have laces, you can adjust the shaft to be larger or smaller. Stretch panels also provide extra space.
